Who we help
Tax for tradies, evidenced like a contract.
Apprentices, subcontractors and crews. Tradie returns carry some of the highest deduction claims the ATO sees — which is exactly why yours should be the one with the receipts behind it.
Most tradies run a mix the ATO looks at closely: wages from one job, ABN income from another, a ute that does both, and tools bought between sites. None of that is a problem — provided each piece is recorded, apportioned and substantiated.
That is the work we do. We prepare tradie returns the way they would be tested in a review: income reconciled against invoices, payment reports and bank deposits; deductions claimed only where the record supports them; and the split between work and private use written down, not guessed.
Based in Brisbane, we work with tradies in every Australian state — by phone and video, with documents through the client portal.
What we see on tradie returns
- Vehicle claims with no logbook and no basis for the percentage used.
- Tools and equipment claimed in round numbers, with the receipts long gone.
- ABN income that does not reconcile to bank deposits when the ATO's data does.
- Deductions copied from last year's return instead of substantiated for this one.
What we do
Sole trader and subcontractor returns
Business schedules prepared from reconciled records — income traceable to invoices and deposits, not estimated.
Mixed wage and ABN income
Both income streams reported and reconciled, with deductions allocated to the income they belong to.
Vehicle and travel claims
The claim method chosen on the records you actually hold — a logbook supports more, no logbook supports less — with the workings on file.
Tools, equipment and depreciation
Purchases substantiated, private use apportioned, and depreciation schedules carried properly year to year.
BAS and GST for subbies
Registration, quarterly BAS and GST credits handled — each credit backed by a valid tax invoice.
Catching up late years
Behind on lodgments? We confirm what is outstanding, rebuild the records and bring the file up to date.
A tradie return prepared here can answer for itself: the logbook, the receipts and the reconciliations are on file before the return is lodged — not assembled after the ATO writes. See our method →
Common questions
Can I claim tools if I've lost the receipts?
Sometimes other records — bank and card statements, supplier reprints — can substantiate a purchase. What we will not do is lodge a round-number guess. We tell you what the records support, then set you up to keep it simple next year.
How do vehicle claims work for a ute?
It depends on the vehicle and how it is used, and the right method turns on the records you have. A logbook supports a larger, defensible claim; without one the options narrow. We choose the method your evidence can carry and document the private-use split.
I have wages and ABN income. Does that complicate things?
It is common in the trades and entirely manageable. Each income stream is reported, deductions are allocated to the work they relate to, and the whole return reconciles to what the ATO already knows about you.
I'm a few years behind. Can you fix that?
Yes. We confirm with the ATO exactly which years are outstanding, reconstruct the records from prefill and bank data, and lodge in order — with penalty and interest remission requested where there are grounds.
Do you work with tradies outside Brisbane?
Yes. The practice is based in Brisbane, and phone and video appointments cover the whole country. The evidence standard is the same in every state.
