Where we work

Oxley's tax, done with the receipts attached.

Workshops, trades and small businesses along the south-west corridor — Oxley's work is practical, and its tax should be too. We are minutes away in Mount Ommaney, and we prepare returns that can be shown, not just lodged.

Oxley sits just across the river from our Mount Ommaney base, on Brisbane's working south-west corridor — and the returns that come from it reflect the area: trades and subcontractors, transport and warehouse workers, workshops and services, and households with straightforward returns that still deserve to be done properly.

Practical work leaves practical records — invoices, supplier statements, logbooks, bank feeds. Our job is to turn those into returns and BAS that reconcile, with the private-use questions answered in writing rather than assumed.

Appointments run by phone or video around the working day — from the ute, the depot or the kitchen — with documents through a secure client portal. The same standard serves clients in every Australian state.

What we see from the south-west corridor

  • Subcontractors whose income reports and bank deposits tell two different stories.
  • Workshop equipment bought secondhand with no paper trail for the cost.
  • BAS lodged quarterly by habit, never reconciled back to the books.
  • Family members on the payroll with the arrangements never documented.

What we do

Tradie and subcontractor returns

Vehicle, tools and site costs claimed on evidence, with the work-private split documented.

Small business and BAS

Books reconciled before the BAS is lodged, so the quarters agree with the year.

Individual returns

Wages, overtime and allowances reported correctly, deductions substantiated before they are claimed.

Equipment and depreciation

Purchases evidenced — including secondhand gear — and depreciation carried properly year to year.

Late lodgments

Outstanding years confirmed with the ATO and brought up to date in order.

An Oxley return from this practice carries its evidence with it — receipts, reconciliations and the reasoning — because that is what answers a question if one ever comes. See our method →

Common questions

How close are you to Oxley?

The practice is based in neighbouring Mount Ommaney, minutes away across the river — though appointments run by phone and video, so the distance never matters. Correspondence reaches us at PO Box 165, Mount Ommaney QLD 4074.

I'm a subbie — what records do I actually need to keep?

Fewer than you fear, kept better than most do: invoices issued, expenses evidenced, a logbook if a vehicle is claimed, and bank statements that reconcile to all of it. We set the system up so next year keeps itself.

Can you do my BAS as well as my tax return?

Yes — and doing both is how the numbers stay consistent. The BAS is prepared from reconciled books, and the year-end return agrees with the quarters that preceded it.

I haven't lodged for a couple of years. Is that a problem?

It is a solvable one. We confirm with the ATO which years are outstanding, rebuild the records and lodge in sequence — with remission of penalties requested where there are grounds.

Do you work after hours?

Appointments are by arrangement — that is what by-appointment means. Tell us the constraint and we will find the slot, by phone or by video.

General information only — not tax, legal or financial advice. Advice specific to your circumstances is provided within a signed engagement.
